Prior Lake, Minnesota, incorporated as a village in 1851, is a suburban bedroom community located in Scott County, just twenty miles southwest of downtown Minneapolis. The lake itself is made up of two sections, upper and lower. The two sections are connected by a channel that runs under Country Road 21.

Prior Lake itself is extremely popular with locals and is favored by both fishermen and water sports lovers. Prior Lake is a small but growing community of approximately 22,000 residents, with a school system that has earned a high approval rating. The Prior Lake High School and two middle schools – Twin Oaks and Hidden Oaks – are served by the Prior Lake/Savage Area School District.

The City of Prior Lake’s commitment to families is enhanced by a series of affordable year-round activities and recreational programs suited to both children and adults of all ages. Golfers are far from neglected as well, since there are no less than five outstanding golf courses located both in and around the city limits.

Although many residents of Prior Lake are employed or do business in the Twin Cities metropolitan area, the city has a self-sustaining economic base consisting of banking, commercial and retail establishments, and the Mystic Lake Casino, the place to go in Prior Lake for fine dining, world class entertainment and, of course, gambling.  In fact, Prior Lake, Minnesota has the only casino in the Twin Cities region.
